As the shift toward a carbon-free California intensifies, we'll be there to help expand the green workforce and incorporate geothermal heating and cooling into the services of the most progressive HVAC R companies in the region.
"Carbon Free" means no fossil fuels. Our geothermal uses no fossil fuels and therefore also has no chance of carbon monoxide problems.
It's time to educate our business partners
A trio of partners saw that there was a gap in getting builders, contractors and architects to choose green equipment and methodologies in their buildings. In studying this they found that the issue boiled down to needing more education about renewable and energy efficient heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. Although this trio was not new to the sustainable energy game; we needed to get more professionals on board to broaden the knowledge of what geothermal and energy efficient grocery cases can do for the environment and the owners of these properties.
The President and Founder of Cold Craft, Inc., Kent Penning is a partner at Green Equipment Options, Inc. He established Cold Craft in 1991 and teaches refrigeration and HVAC to students at a local college. Mr. Penning believes in education and certification such as the NATE certification (North American Technical Excellence). For a technician to become NATE certified they need to pass a series of tests and Mr. Penning has encouraged study groups for his employees. Mr. Penning has completed ClimateMaster and Kysor Warren training and managed the installation of multiple geothermal and grocery jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Susan Nichol serves as the CEO of the full-service HVAC firm, Cold Craft, Inc. in San Jose, CA also a partner at Green Equipment Options, Inc. Her firm earned the first Diamond Certified® status in Santa Clara County. It operates with NATE® certified staff, is affiliated with SMACNA, and emphasizes continuing improvement in all business activities. Cold Craft is a certified geothermal heat pump installation company. Her focus has been to find the right solution for the customer and that often times means educating the customer to the possibilities not only of the functionality of the equipment but of financial impacts of the decision from energy costs to rebates and even federal tax credits.
The CEO and founder of Build by Design, John Townsend, is the third partner at Green Equipment Options, Inc. He was taught in grade school that fossil fuels could be used up in our lifetime. This seemingly minor, inconsequential 3rd grade classroom comment struck a chord with John, and he came to believe that something needed to—and could—be done about it. From the very beginning of his design and building career environmentally-friendly solutions attracted and intrigued him. Mr. Townsend has over 30 years’ experience incorporating environmentally-friendly solutions into every project possible.
These three partners create Green Equipment Options and the firm supplies the HVAC-R industry with supplies and equipment for GHP installations, energy efficient refrigerated grocer cases and also provides guidance for all building professionals who want to understand more before suggesting a greener heating, cooling and refrigeration path for their client.
As the shift toward a carbon-free California intensifies, Green Equipment Options (appropriately G.E.O. for short) will be there to help expand the green workforce and incorporate geothermal heating and cooling into the services of the most progressive HVAC R companies in the region.
